Programme Manager Position

About the Role:

The Programme Manager is responsible for the end-to-end oversight and implementation of various programmes focused on enterprise development, supplier development, and socio-economic development. This role involves active participation in programme design, co-creation with clients, and the consultative selling process. The Programme Manager is also be responsible for implementing programmes across South Africa and other African countries, ensuring that they meet programme expectations and frameworks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Programme Design and Implementation:
    • Participate in the design and co-creation of programmes with clients.
    • Assist business development executives in the consultative selling process.
    • Implement programmes across South Africa and other African countries.
    • Conduct masterclasses, trainings, mentorship, and structured business support.
    • Design, develop, and deliver impactful programmes aligned with industry needs.
  • Business Support:
    • Provide structured support to businesses in the McGeralds ecosystem.
    • Ensure that supported businesses become profitable, impactful, and inspirational.
    • Capture engagements on the Propella Technology platform for impact tracking and data collection.
  • Learning and Improvement:
    • Capture key insights and learnings to improve programme design and intervention techniques.
    • Gain competence in the McGeralds Business Success Propella Model.
    • Develop tools, modules, resources and business cases for supporting businesses.
  • Team Development:
    • Develop other staff through training, mentorship, and knowledge sharing.
    • Enhance the capabilities of the team in contributing to the organization’s vision.
    • Develop your direct reports in skills and competencies to ensure their continued professional development.
  • Organisational Collaboration:
    • Liaise with other departments for effective reporting and management of programmes.
    • Provide relevant information for overall organisational success.
  • Strategic Leadership:
    • Manage progress and drive the delivery of key objectives across stakeholders.
    • Think strategically and report on trends and themes related to programme impact.
    • Keep relevant stakeholders engaged and aligned to strategic objectives.
    • Actively drive strategic objectives and lead the programme successfully.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
    • Draft reports and other forms of documentation for clients.
    • Write reviews highlighting the value of work and interventions.
    • Strategise, report on, and resolve potential challenges and issues.
    • Produce high-quality research and analysis on industry needs and stakeholders.
  • Reporting and Evaluation:
    • Prepare interim and final programme reports, including key performance indicators.
    • Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities.

  • General Duties:
    • Perform other duties as required to ensure the sustainability and growth of McGeralds.

Qualifications:

  • Essential:
    • Master’s Degree in Business Administration (MBA) or a professional qualification such as ACCA, SAICA or CIMA.
    • Proven experience in programme management, business development, or a related field.
    • Strong understanding of enterprise development, supplier development, and socio-economic development principles.
    • Excellent project management skills, including planning, execution, and monitoring.
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
    • Ability to build and maintain relationships with clients, stakeholders, and team members.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Desirable:
    • Experience in working with entrepreneurs and small businesses.
    • Knowledge of the South African business landscape and challenges faced by entrepreneurs.
    • Experience in designing and implementing training and development programmes.
    • Familiarity with Propella Technology platform or similar tools.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in programme management or a related field.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing and implementing programmes.
  • Experience in working with diverse stakeholders and building partnerships.
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve results in a fast-paced environment.
